Several thousand visitors of all ages attended the "Open University 2012" which took place at the University of Siegen. With around 130 different program choices, the university attained what Rector Holger Burckhart and the mayoress Steffen Mues announced in their welcoming speech: The university meets the city – the city meets the university.
Visitors had a very wide range of activities to choose, from theatre to technology. There were activities for children like a conference on "secret codes and cryptography in everyday life”, followed by around 500 excited children and their parents.
The dime project obviously attended the call at the hand of the University of Siegen by the IT Security team led by Prof. Dr. Dogan Kesdogan, a partner of the dime consortium. The project was presented at a booth together with some other important projects that are being carried out at the university.
