Deliverable D05.04 Modelling and Semantic UI

Abstract

The di.me project researches technologies that enable the use of personal data in a controlled, trustworthy, and intelligent way. The project develops a di.me platform that incorporates user-control deeply in design: a private service – the di.me userware -- offers a central node in a decentralized network, connecting with distinct identities to other users or external services, e.g. social networking platforms. Intelligent features will guide users e.g. by context-aware advice on trust and privacy, or on how to organise the personal information sphere.

This deliverables describes the relationship between the Intelligent User Interface for the digital.me userware, and the ontologies introduced in D03.01 Ontology Framework. It shows how the modelling introduced in the latter, influence the way the users interact with their own information as it is managed and acted upon by the intelligent system. In particular, we describe the objectives of the intelligent user interface being designed and discuss how we have and are targeting them, through the smart functionality provided mostly by WP3 "Semantic Representation, Lifting and Processing of Personal Data in Context”. In order to provide a bridge between the ontologies and the user interface, we specify the UI items that the user will interact with, and the link to the corresponding semantic elements in the ontologies. The relationship between the UI concepts and the ontologies are substantiated with a number of screenshots from the current prototypes, and also from upcoming userware concepts that are being evaluated.
