A booth at an international conference, information materials and a presentation held by the coordinator to promote the project results so far
Galway, Ireland, October, the 26th, 2012.- Almost two years after its launch, the di.me project celebrates its mid-term dissemination event. This event took place in Galway, Ireland from the 8th to the 12th of October and was held in the framework of EKAW 2012.
EKAW, the Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management Conference, celebrated its 18th edition. This international conference is concerned with all aspects of eliciting, acquiring, modeling and managing knowledge, and its role in the construction of knowledge-intensive systems and services for the semantic web, knowledge management, e-business, natural language processing, intelligent information integration, etc. This year, EKAW was focused on "Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management that matters”.
Besides a research track, EKAW featured a tutorial, workshop and a doctoral symposium program, as well as a poster and demo track. This conference was, thus, the perfect environment to organize the mid-term dissemination event of the dime- project. The di.me project, gold sponsor of the conference, took part in the exhibition with a booth and placed information of the project in all the attendees’ conference bag.
More than 100 experts from all Europe visited the EKAW Conference. They had the opportunity to test a first di.me prototype at the booth and thanks to their feedback, improve the future developments.
Furthermore, on Friday 12 of October, Dr. Fabian Hermann, coordinator of the dime project, and Dr. Simon Scerri, researcher of DERI - NUIG, held the presentation "di:me: Knowledge-based Techniques for a Proactive Personal Information Management”. They provided an overview of the nature and general objectives of the project, with a particular focus on the knowledge engineering (modelling, representation and reasoning) aspects of the project R&D.
During the last three days of the event, the di.me project consortium held a board meeting as well. Representative of all the partners involved in the project attended to this meeting, where most of the discussions were focused on the project roadmap for the third and last year.
